Drum Set Methods

As my own playing developed, I began to notice recurring musical challenges in my practice—coordination, time, phrasing, vocabulary, and musical flow. Rather than simply repeating exercises from method books, I started creating my own solutions to address the specific skills I wanted to strengthen.

Over time, those practice ideas evolved into comprehensive teaching methods that I continue to refine through my own daily practice and with students in my private studio. These include the Long–Short Method, 6/4–12/8 Method, Flow, and Contract Solos—each designed to develop practical musicianship, technical fluency, and musical confidence and originality.

I have also developed a clear, developmental drum set curriculum that meets students where they are. The curriculum begins with the Primer Level (lower elementary), followed by Stage One (elementary and middle school), Stage Two (high school and college), and Stage Three (advanced college and professional-level study). Each stage builds on the previous one, providing a structured path from the first lesson to advanced performance while remaining flexible enough to address each student's individual goals.
